Basque Audiovisual will be at MIPCOM to foster direct contact between firms and professionals

  • The matchmaking event is scheduled for Tuesday 5 October
  • MIPCOM is the world’s leading event for content for platforms of all types, and this is the fourth consecutive year in which Basque Audiovisual has attended

Bilbao, 23 September. The promotion and arranging of direct meetings between firms and potential purchasers or collaborators will be one of the main activities at the Basque Audiovisual stand at the MIPCOM festival in Cannes on October 4-8. On Tuesday 5 October there will be a matchmaking featuring all 8 Basque firms gathered under the Basque Audiovisual banner.

This initiative will give firms a chance to offer their products and receive proposals for collaboration and new business ideas. The Basque companies represented at the stand are 3Koma, (‘El Calendario del Año’, ‘El coro de la cárcel’, ‘You are invited’, ‘Till wedding tear us apart’), Baleuko (‘Omega T’, animated film currently under development), Expressive (‘Izarren Argia’ & ‘Flores silvestres’), Mediabask (‘Mystical. Eldyins journey‘ – animated series), Pausoka (‘Every Jack has a Jill’ - contest), Silverspace (‘Hiroku y los defensores de Gaia’, ‘Climate change‘), Somuga, (‘The Howoldies’, ‘Gartxot, Itzaltzuko Bardoa’) and Sonora, (‘The Black Ink’). Basque public broadcaster EiTB, which is also a member of the Basque Audiovisual Cluster, will be accompanying these firms at Cannes.

This year’s MIPCOM on October 4-8 is the fourth consecutive edition in which Basque Audiovisual has taken part. MIPCOM’s status as one of the most important international events in the audiovisual calendar is evidenced by the presence of a great many producers, purchasers, sellers, financial agents and distributors, with all the business opportunities that this entails.

Basque audiovisual firms have maintained a continual presence at the sector’s leading international fairs and in its markets for several decades now, but the Basque Government Department of Culture and Eiken (the Basque Audiovisual Cluster) are seeking to strengthen that presence by encouraging the joint participation of as many firms as possible, grouped under the banner of Basque Audiovisual, a well-consolidated, widely-recognised brand name that clearly identifies products made in the Basque Country.

Basque Audiovisual will be at stand 13.05 in the Palais des Festivals. The stand will be equipped with audiovisual technology to show off the products of the participating firms to the best effect. The Basque Audiovisual brand also has an on-line catalogue available at www.basqueaudiovisual.com, which acts as an effective tool for establishing preliminary contacts and arranging meetings with potential customers and collaborators at the festival.
